Zela Aviation Renews Strategic Partnership with Syros-Ermoupoli Municipality for Second Year of Tourism Growth
/Zela Aviation is pleased to announce the renewal of its strategic collaboration with the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli, extending their partnership into its second year. This ongoing cooperation continues to focus on creating opportunities for new connections to Syros Airport (LGSO) with international destinations, as well as further promoting tourism across the island.
Building on the successes of their first year, Zela Aviation, with nearly 20 years of experience in the aviation industry and offices in the UK, Cyprus, and Greece, remains committed to promoting Syros as a premier destination. The partnership continues to leverage the expertise of Zela Aviation and its subsidiary, Zela Jet, to attract more private aircraft, executive, and helicopter flights to the island.
Following the success of the Syros-Thessaloniki (LGTS) route in 2025, it will operate again for the 2026 season, running from April 9 to October 22. Service begins in spring with two weekly flights, increasing to up to four weekly rotations during the peak summer months (June to September), before gradually returning to a reduced schedule in October. This seasonal frequency ensures flexible options for both leisure and business travel, making it easier for passengers to move between the Cyclades and Northern Greece. The route remains an important connection supporting regional mobility and tourism.
Syros, the jewel of the Cyclades, seamlessly blends rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and authentic Greek charm. From its neoclassical architecture and vibrant arts scene to crystal-clear waters and serene villages, the island offers an unforgettable experience for travelers year-round. Visitors can explore historical landmarks, savor local cuisine, and enjoy pristine beaches, all while experiencing the island's welcoming atmosphere.
Zela Jet, established in 2020, continues its mission to provide high-quality helicopter and private airplane charter services in Greece and Europe, enhancing access to Syros and strengthening its position as a destination for both leisure and business travelers.
Syros Island National Airport (LGSO) "Dimitrios Vikelas," established in 1991, plays a vital role in connecting the island with Athens and other regional destinations. Despite its modest size, the airport efficiently serves approximately 20,000 passengers annually and offers a smooth travel experience that supports Syros' growing tourism and economic activity.
The renewed collaboration will continue to focus on targeted marketing to tour operators and direct engagement with major airlines operating scheduled and charter flights. Deputy Mayor of Syros-Ermoupoli for Tourism, Mr. Ioannis Voutsinos, highlighted the positive outcomes of the initial year and expressed optimism about the continued growth of tourism through this partnership.
Andreas Christodoulides, Chairman of Zela Aviation, stated: "We are thrilled to renew our cooperation with the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli. The first year demonstrated the island's enormous potential, and we look forward to building on this success to further enhance Syros' visibility and appeal to travelers worldwide."
