NBAA Announces Recipient of Inaugural James Sullivan Aviation Scholarship

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has named Gavin Madary as the recipient of the 2025 James Sullivan Aviation Scholarship, which is presented to an aspiring business aviation maintenance technician for educational costs for their undergraduate program.

Madary, who is enrolled at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University studying aviation maintenance science, was awarded $5,000 toward learning-related expenses.

The James Sullivan Aviation Scholarship was created in 2025 by NBAA Charities and the family and friends of the late James Sullivan to honor his outstanding personal contribution to the business aviation community. Named for a remarkable man whose strength of character inspired a high standard of caring in the aviation community, this scholarship recognizes those individuals who strive to achieve the highest accomplishments in aviation.

NBAA Charities offers monetary and training scholarships for both students and aviation professionals, such as flight department managers, pilots, maintenance technicians, schedulers, dispatchers, flight attendants and flight technicians.

These scholarships, which total nearly $100,000 annually, are administered by NBAA standing committees and would not be possible without the generous financial support of NBAA member donors.
