NATA Statement on ASTM Approval of Swift Fuels’ 100R Unleaded Avgas Production Specification
/NATA (the National Air Transportation Association) congratulates Swift Fuels on its announcement of approval of an ASTM International production specification for Swift Fuels’ 100R unleaded avgas.
ASTM International approval represents a significant milestone reflecting years of collaboration between Swift Fuels, the Federal Aviation Administration, leading OEMs including Lycoming, Continental Aerospace, Rotax, Textron Aviation, Piper, and others, as well as international testing laboratories and suppliers. The rigorous ASTM process, supported by experts from stakeholders across all facets of the aviation industry, confirms that a fuel meets the highest global standards for safety and performance.
“The approval of 100R for an ASTM International production specification represents another significant step in the transition to unleaded aviation fuel, while strengthening our industry’s commitment to safety,” said NATA President and CEO Curt Castagna. “NATA applauds the leadership and dedication of Swift Fuels and all who contributed to this milestone achievement.”
Swift Fuels’ 100R unleaded avgas is already in use at flight schools in the U.S. and Europe, with broader availability expected in the coming months. NATA will continue to support its members and the aviation community by providing resources, education, and advocacy to facilitate a smooth and safe transition to unleaded avgas as a leader on the joint FAA/industry EAGLE (Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions) Initiative.
