Charter Spotlight: RoyalJet
/Air Charter Guide recently spoke with Mohammed Husain Ahmed, Acting CEO, RoyalJet. RoyalJet is a premier private aviation operator based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, specializing in luxury charter services for discerning travelers worldwide. The company has built its reputation on delivering sophisticated, personalized experiences with meticulous attention to detail, from customized in-flight services to flexible scheduling and global reach.
1) Charter travelers' tips and know-how – how do you guide a customer through the process?
As a premium private aviation operator, Royal Jet delivers our distinct brand of timeless sophistication and elegance.
The customer journey begins with the booking process, which is managed by our dedicated concierge team. Once a mission is confirmed, we send an iPad to the guest, allowing them to share personal preferences, interests, and expectations for their experience. This includes choices for catering, service style, and how they prefer staff to interact with them. This information is incredibly valuable and enables us to tailor every aspect of their journey.
Often, an advance party arrives at our airport lounge ahead of the lead guest. We ensure both are well taken care of, with their preferred food and beverages properly prepared to suit their tastes.
Upon boarding, guests are welcomed by the pilot and cabin crew and are then settled into the aircraft with personalized touches and every detail well curated to meet their individual needs.
This is how we deliver on our promise of a seamless, highly personalized experience that makes each guest feel truly valued.
2) How would you describe your fleet or flagship aircraft?
We fly a fleet of nine Boeing Business Jets (BBJs), making us the largest BBJ operator in the world. We also operate two other aircraft – a Bombardier Global 5000 and 6000. We have also made firm orders for three Airbus ACJ320 Neo, with options for six more. This is the culmination of a 10-year evaluation process. We believe that the ACJs will meet growing customer demand and further strengthen RoyalJet's position in the market.
3) What does the future look like for your company?
Much of our focus for the future is centered around our fleet, further enhancing our service delivery and the strategic decisions we're making in those areas.
Over the next three years, we plan to introduce additional and more diverse aircraft types. We're also aiming to modernize our existing fleet.
Additionally, we're exploring geographic expansion opportunities. Recently, we started operating our Bombardier Global 5000 aircraft A6 RJD for private charter out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Another key initiative involves entering a new market segment that requires smaller aircraft. Internally, we're undergoing a digital transformation and a broader organizational reset, which marks an exciting new chapter for the business. We have many interesting developments waiting in the wings, so stay tuned.
4) How did you get into aviation?
I have been passionate about aviation for most of my life, and I've been part of the industry for more than 25 years across both private and public sectors. I was heavily involved in operations, being close enough to smell the aircraft's fuel, as we say. Before joining RoyalJet, I was the General Manager of Abu Dhabi Airports, and, prior to that, I was Vice President for Commercial and Government Affairs at Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL). In 2007, I oversaw the establishment of a new college that would successfully grow the number of Emirati air traffic controllers, achieving an Emiratisation rate of 97 percent.
5) What is your most popular itinerary/event/destination?
Most of our traffic goes to Morocco or London on one end and Malaysia on the other. A lot of our missions are in North and Central Europe. Reykjavik is an interesting destination, not just due to Iceland's stunning natural views. From there, you can refuel and keep flying across the Atlantic into America before going all the way to the West Coast.
6) Do you specialize in ambulance or cargo?
We have a diverse fleet of aircraft that can be configured for various missions, allowing us to meet our customers' requirements, whether they be for air ambulance or cargo. By putting our customers’ needs first, we have been a multiple-time winner of the "World's Leading Private Jet Charter" category at the annual World Travel Awards, including eight consecutive years.
7) Fun stories or narrative to share:
Because the UAE is an excellent environment for startups and a great place to do business, we're seeing more high-net-worth individuals being based here. This includes young crypto millionaires – many of them are now flying on private jets, seeing it as a testament to their success. Despite geopolitical tensions all over the world, the UAE remains in a favorable position due to its good ties with all countries. This results in a huge demand for travel in and out of the UAE, and we are always ready to serve.
8) What is a memorable event you've taken passengers to in the past?
Each of our guests' missions is important and memorable to us. We give our utmost effort and quality of service for every one of them, ensuring that they receive a sophisticated and elegant experience throughout their journey, along with unique moments of delight that they will remember long after disembarking.
9) Share a key quote about jet travel with our readers
Typically, if a commercial airline's aircraft breaks down, either the flight gets cancelled, or passengers are rebooked on another flight. But flying on a luxury private jet, specifically with RoyalJet, it doesn't work that way. We will always ensure that a customer's journey goes as planned and enable them to reach their intended destination, complete with all the personalized experience they prefer. So, no matter what, RoyalJet will always get our customers to their destination.
