Operator Spotlight: Jet Connections

Air Charter Guide recently spoke with Gabriela Marquez of Jet Connections, a private aviation company based in Miami, Florida, operating out of Opa-Locka Executive Airport (KOPF). Jet Connections specializes in private jet charter services, aircraft management, and customized aviation solutions. The company is known for its commitment to safety, operational excellence, personalized service and catering to a diverse clientele.

Charter travel tips and know-how – how do you guide a customer through the process?

The process starts before the client ever calls us, with the aircraft itself. Every flight we operate meets ARGUS, NBAA, NATA, and FlightSafety standards, so the first thing we remove from the equation is uncertainty about safety and crew qualifications. From there, it is about compression: a client tells us the destination and the travel window, and we return a confirmed itinerary, including the aircraft, crew, and ground transportation, typically within the hour.

We coordinate everything from end to end. That means ground transportation is arranged before the client lands, catering reflects the client’s actual preferences rather than a generic menu, and, for those traveling with pets, the aircraft and cabin service are matched accordingly. None of this is presented as a luxury add-on. It is built into the foundation of how we operate because our clients, including executives at family offices, hedge funds, law firms as well as families traveling for leisure or important events, are not simply optimizing for comfort. They are optimizing for time, privacy, and flexibility.

The most useful advice we give a new charter client is to lead with the objective, not the aircraft. Once we understand what the trip actually needs to accomplish, whether it is a same-day round trip for a single meeting, positioning ahead of a high-demand travel window, or a multi-stop itinerary across several markets, the rest of the planning follows naturally. Direct fleet. Discreet service. On your schedule.

How would you describe your fleet or flagship aircraft?

Our core fleet is built around the Hawker line, aircraft chosen for the balance they strike between cabin comfort, range, and operational efficiency on the routes our clients fly most. Every cabin is configured with the working client in mind, so the aircraft supports the mission: getting a principal from one meeting to the next without losing time or privacy in the process.

Need a different cabin size, greater range, or a specific aircraft category? Through our trusted aviation network, Jet Connections can source and coordinate additional aircraft options based on your route, passenger requirements, preferences, and availability.

What does the future look like for your company?

We are strategically expanding our fleet and operational capabilities to include larger and longer-range aircraft, including super-midsize, large-cabin and, ultimately, VIP widebody aircraft. This growth will allow us to accommodate more passengers, longer-range missions and increasingly sophisticated domestic and international travel requirements.

Our approach is disciplined and deliberate. We intend to combine aircraft ownership, aircraft management and strategic partnerships to expand our fleet while maintaining the operational standards, safety culture and personalized service that define Jet Connections.

The objective is not simply to operate more aircraft. It is to build a comprehensive private aviation company capable of providing charter, aircraft management, acquisition, sales and customized aviation solutions under one organization.

From our Miami base, we see significant opportunities to connect the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and international markets. As we expand, our focus will remain on creating long-term value for our aircraft owners, clients, employees and strategic partners.

How did you get into aviation?

My entry into aviation began in 1991, when I founded Avionics Sales Corp., an aviation MRO and avionics support company.

What started as an entrepreneurial venture developed into more than three decades of experience in the aviation industry. Building the company required me to become involved in virtually every aspect of the business—from technical operations, purchasing and logistics to sales, finance, business development, regulatory compliance and customer relationships.

Over the years, my involvement expanded beyond avionics and MRO services into aircraft ownership, maintenance, flight operations, aircraft acquisitions and management, and private aviation consulting.

That experience gave me a unique perspective on aviation because I learned the industry from the ground up—not only from the operational side, but also from the business and ownership side.

Today, my aviation interests extend across aircraft operations, charter, aircraft management, acquisitions and sales. The foundation for all of it goes back to the company I founded in 1991 and the experience I gained building it over more than 30 years.

What is your most popular itinerary/event/destination?

Miami to Teterboro is our most requested route by a clear margin. It makes sense given who we fly — principals moving between two of the markets where their business actually happens, often on a same-day or next-day basis. New York remains the market our clients need to reach fastest and most often, whether that's for a closing, a board meeting, or simply staying close to where capital moves. Teterboro in particular gives them the proximity and turnaround speed that a commercial alternative into the city simply can't match.

What is a memorable event you’ve taken passengers to in the past?

One of the experiences that stands out most was taking the Jet Connections team to New York for the NBAA White Plains event.

We brought our employees together not simply to attend an aviation event, but to experience the industry firsthand, meet clients and aviation professionals, and build meaningful relationships. For several team members, it was also their first time flying on a private jet. This gave them the opportunity to personally experience the comfort, convenience, and level of service we provide to our passengers every day.

Being there together allowed our employees to see the business from a broader perspective. They were able to understand the complete journey, from the private flight experience to the relationships that drive the industry.

For me, it was an opportunity to invest in our people. We were not just taking our team to an event; we were giving them the chance to experience our service, connect with the people behind the industry, and become more deeply involved in the private aviation community. Ultimately, our business is about much more than airplanes. It is about people, experiences, and relationships.
