You are an experienced aviation professional with a passion for safety and making improvements to the way things are done.  You can predict when a situation might lead to degradation of safety standards and can make thoughtful improvements to processes and procedures to manage, mitigate, or prevent.  You can easily communicate “lessons learned” while implementing corrective actions to prevent future recurrences.

Desert Jet, a part 135 on-demand charter company, is seeking a Director of Safety to nurture the company’s safety culture by identifying and managing safety risks specific to Desert Jet’s flight, maintenance, FBO and support operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of IS-BAO and IS-BAH protocols and safety management systems.  This position entails speaking to Desert Jet team members daily to foster a positive and participative safety culture that is built on continual feedback and improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Project management experience to include SMS and ASAP program
  • Managerial experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in aviation safety, management or other aviation-related field

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • NBAA Certified Aviation Manager status
  • IS-BAO and/or IS-BAH auditor training

Desert Jet is located at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport (KTRM) in the greater Palm Springs area of California.  Also known as the Coachella Valley, our region contains the resort cities of Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indio, La Quinta and Indian Wells.

The greater Palm Springs area offers something for everyone - beautiful weather, low cost of living and ample opportunities for fun and adventure.  A sample of nearby activities include:
