Oriens Aviation, the exclusive British Isles Pilatus Centre, has reinforced its commitment to the world’s best-selling single engine turboprop (SET), the Pilatus PC-12 and the growing SET commercial operations’ market in Europe by acquiring Avalon Aero’s business aviation MRO facility at London Biggin Hill Airport. 

The business will be formally renamed and inaugurated as Oriens Aviation Limited effective immediately, with a view to becoming the principal authorised PC-12 Service Centre in the UK by 29^th January, 2018.   (Oriens’ activity extends to an agreement with Goodwood Engineering, who will act as a satellite service centre).

DC Aviation, with headquarters in Stuttgart, recently obtained C14-Approval for repairing and maintaining the main and nose wheels of aircraft. Accordingly, the Company is now in a position to perform all maintenance work required by the manufacturers, starting immediately. By eliminating the need for outsourced services and related freight costs, DC Aviation can now offer its customers optimized costs and down times.

Satcom Direct and COMSAT announced that the two organizations worked to ensure highly reliable satellite communications were immediately available for first responders in Puerto Rico to support the relief effort of Hurricane Maria. Amidst catastrophic damage and a major humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, Inmarsat’s Global Xpress service enabled first responders to communicate within minutes of arrival using rapid mission-critical high-throughput connectivity, thus allowing public safety, medical and other emergency response teams to swiftly and reliably fulfill their mission.

FBO RIGA has become the first FBO in the Baltic States who demonstrated its conformity to the standard and who received the IS-BAH certificate.

The AfBAC EXPO, Africa’s first three-day event dedicated to business aviation and RPAS, exceeded organiser’s expectations with just under 1000 delegates registering to attend the event held in Johannesburg, 29 November to 1 December. Attendees came from as far afield as New Zealand, Canada, the USA, Europe and the Middle East, to participate in three days of conference, exhibition, workshops, and static display held at ExecuJet’s Lanseria Airport facility.

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) expressed support for the final version of tax legislation agreed to by House and Senate conference negotiators, specifically pointing to provisions that will help general aviation, which the NBAA has worked hard for years to achieve.

Signum Aviation – the flight planning and operations support specialist –reached a milestone this month as it celebrated its 10 th anniversary.

The UK-headquartered ‘boutique’ flight support company, which serves business aviation operators all over the world with complete trip-planning and operations support on a 24/7 basis was founded on 23 November 2007 in Chester with a single client, operating two aircraft at the time.

Executive Flight Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Executive AirShare, has recently completed its comprehensive certification process by the Federal Aviation Administration to operate jets with 10 seats or more over ocean routes. The thorough vetting by the FAA included a validation flight made by Executive Flight Services pilots in June on a Hawker 4000 aircraft from Bangor, Maine to Shannon, Ireland. The “10 or More” certification allows longer flights on larger EFS-flown aircraft, such as a 2016 Embraer Legacy 500, for charter or managed-aircraft customers.
